  • Plastic bottles (please rinse)
  • Tins and cans (please rinse)
  • Catalogues, telephone directories (including Yellow Pages)
  • Glass

However, flats and apartments often have two blue eurobins – one is for paper and cardboard, and the other mixed recyclables. Make sure you check the signage before adding your waste.

We’re cracking down on side waste

Did you know we produce more household waste here in Barking and Dagenham than anywhere else in London? Not only does this make our streets untidy but it’s also expensive – if we reduce the amount we’re chucking away by 6% year-on-year, we can save £2 million by 2020 which is hugely important in light of the massive government cuts to our funding.

We’re going to be issuing fines to those who repeatedly generate side waste. The fines will come into place in the near future so it’s time to cut down on the amount you’re binning.
